On December 26, 2004, the Sumatra–Andaman earthquake rocked the Indian Ocean and southeast Asia early in the morning. The earthquake set off a tsunami that took the lives of over 230,000 people. It was a major news story for weeks after the actual event as more and more people were reported killed and more and more areas of land were devastated. In response, two of our youth, Alisha Rivera and Romulo Meneses, decided they wanted to do something about it and, using their love of dance, organized and put on a Tsunami Relief Dance Show in conjunction with several dance schools and Elizabeth High School. All the proceeds collected went to The Salvation Army's efforts to help the people affected. In total, we were able to donate $2500 to help Elizabeth's love reach Asia's pain.
